What
What we delivered
An emergency expansion of our Love Your Neighbour Food Pantry into full-scale food distribution and hot cooked-meal delivery during the COVID-19 crisis.
Why
Why this work mattered
When lockdown hit, vulnerable East Ham residents — older people, isolated families, people who had lost work — were left without reliable access to food. We already had a food pantry, trusted community relationships and willing volunteers; we scaled it.
How
How we delivered it
- 01
Expanded the pantry's intake and storage capacity.
- 02
Stood up a hot-meals operation cooking for vulnerable households.
- 03
Coordinated volunteer drivers for doorstep delivery.
- 04
Added welfare check-ins to every drop-off.
Impact
The impact
Approximately £29,600 of funded support reached the community as food parcels, hot meals and welfare contact during one of the hardest periods East Ham has faced.
"The team didn't just bring food. They brought a phone call, a check-in, and the feeling that someone knew we were here."
