Cancer Awareness Workshop — "Preventable or Curable? Let's Ask the Experts"
A follow-on cancer awareness project continuing our focus on improving awareness of cancer signs, symptoms and screening within Black African and Caribbean communities in East London. The programme included expert talks, survivor testimony, community discussion, drama, storytelling, online engagement and awareness materials covering breast, cervical, bowel and prostate cancer.

What we delivered
A follow-on cancer awareness programme anchored by a major community workshop on 25 January 2026, expanding coverage to include prostate cancer alongside breast, cervical and bowel pathways.
Why
Why this work mattered
Late presentation and low screening uptake remain stubborn issues for Black African and Caribbean communities. Following our earlier project, the Cancer Alliance asked us to deepen the work — particularly around male health and prostate cancer, where stigma is high.
