What

What we delivered

A young people's mental health and wellbeing project supporting children and young people in Newham affected by loneliness, social isolation, bereavement, grief, anxiety, trauma and the wider impact of COVID-19 and financial insecurity. Safe and positive spaces helped young people connect with others, build confidence, take part in healthy activities and talk more openly about mental health.

Why

Why this work mattered

Young people in Newham were carrying the weight of pandemic disruption, bereavement, anxiety and rising hardship. Stigma around mental health within the community meant many were not seeking support. The project created trusted, culturally-aware spaces to change that.

How

  1. 01

Football, drama, talent events and music as accessible entry points.

  3. 03

One-to-one encouragement, counselling support and acts of kindness.

  4. 04

Signposting to relevant statutory and voluntary services.

  5. 05

Partnership working with HeadStart Newham, plus in-person and online engagement.
